Ajax Essential Studio

Fadi came to us with the idea of building a functional backyard studio space and we wanted to design something special for him and his family to enjoy. The modern studio that we built for his Ajax home gave him the perfect backyard space to complete his work and a comfortable place to escape for his family.

From the initial design and consultation, we wanted to produce a studio that would match the feel of his existing backyard and a system that would be the perfect layout to accommodate work and leisure. We wanted a place where he could feel organized but also cosy for his daily use. What we came up with for the design would be a spacious studio that would include a couch, wood stove and a large sliding door.

We wanted to bring in plenty of natural light as well as the option of a healthy air flow throughout the summer. The  pine siding with Muskoka Brown stain paired with the charcoal steel helped achieve an aesthetic that felt very warm and inviting, and complimented the nature behind his property perfectly.

The Backyard studio with its quality 4 panel sliding door and premium pine tongue and groove style siding would be a true focal point inside the backyard and a space that Fadi could use to have a productive office area.

We arrived on the first day of the installation with two trailers packed full with wall panels, rafters, siding, and steel.  We spent the first day unloading, organizing the site, and then building up the structure and getting it water tight before heading back to the shop. Day two saw us completing all of the exterior siding and finishing the last ply of roofing with accommodations for the future vent for the wood stove. Our final day on site was for finishing touches. Trim around the windows and door, touch up stain, silicone to make sure the build was completely water tight and, of course, a walkthrough with Fadi to ensure he was pleased with how his build was coming along. At this point the structure was complete from our end and he was free to have the electrical run and the interior finished.

We are proud of the craftsmanship here and this is a studio space that will stand for years in the yard providing him and his family with the best in workspaces and relaxation.
