A Modern Shed Built for a Middlesex Centre Backyard

This homeowner in Middlesex Centre wanted a backyard structure that looked nothing like a typical storage shed. Kendall Charcoal Shiplap Meets Jet Black Steel

The front wall is finished in Kendall Charcoal pine shiplap, giving the entry face a warmer, textured look, while the remaining three sides are wrapped in corrugated Jet Black steel siding for durability against the weather. The roof carries GAF Liberty 2-ply roofing with a black base and cap sheet, finished with Jet Black flashing so the roofline reads as one continuous dark plane. A 36x80 black steel entry door with frosted glass lites and three transom windows across the front brings in natural light without sacrificing privacy.

A Skillion Roof With Real Overhang

The single-slope skillion roof rises to about 113 inches at the front and drops to roughly 103 inches at the back, with generous 22-inch overhangs on the front, left, and right sides. That extended overhang does real work, keeping the shiplap front wall protected from rain while giving the whole structure a sharper, more deliberate silhouette than a standard gable-roof shed. Underneath, 7/16 OSB sheathing and full house-wrap on the walls, along with pressure-treated bottom plates fastened with concrete screws, keep the build solid for the long term.
