10x8 Advanced Shed in Aurora, Ontario

A Pool Yard in Aurora Needed One More Thing to Be Complete
Anyone who has put serious money into a backyard pool setup knows the feeling. The deck is done, the landscaping is tight, the cover is on for the season — and then you look around and realize there's nowhere to put anything. No storage, no utility, no structure that matches what you've built. That was the situation at this Aurora home on Glensteeple Trail. The pool area was well done, the stonework was clean, and the yard had a clear sense of order. What it needed was a shed that belonged there — not something that looked like an afterthought.
The client came to Backyard Escape Studios looking for a 10x8 Advanced Shed that could hold its own in a yard that had already been thought through carefully. The brief was straightforward: clean lines, modern finish, and a structure that could sit at the back of the pool deck without pulling attention away from everything else going on around it.
Black Steel and Cedar: How Two Materials Work Together in Aurora's Light
The right and left walls, along with the rear, are finished in half-inch corrugated steel siding in black. On an overcast spring day in Aurora, that corrugated steel reads almost charcoal — a deep, matte surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. In full sun, the ridges catch and release shadow in a way that gives the wall texture and depth without any extra effort. It is a material that looks more considered the longer you look at it.
The front wall tells a different story. Horizontal 1x6 premium tight-knot pine tongue and groove panelling, stained in a warm cedar tone, runs across the full face of the shed. Where the black steel is cool and industrial, the pine is warm and organic. Together they create a contrast that feels deliberate without being loud. Next to the cedar-toned fence running the perimeter of the yard, the front wall reads as connected to its surroundings — not imported from somewhere else.
The roofline runs at a low five-degree slope, with a generous 20-inch overhang at the front and sides. That overhang is not decorative. It keeps weather off the door, protects the pine face from direct rain exposure, and gives the shed a horizontal silhouette that reads as architectural rather than utilitarian. The roof is finished in a single-ply black cap sheet over SAM membrane — durable, low-maintenance, and visually consistent with the steel siding below it.
The Door and Window Package: More Light, Better Entry
This build included a spring incentive upgrade to a higher-grade door and window package, and the difference shows. The door is a 36x80 factory-finished black inswing unit with a full frosted glass insert. Centred on the pine front wall, it brings natural light into the interior while keeping the view from outside soft and private. An inswing configuration was chosen deliberately — it holds up better in Ontario weather, protects against wind damage, and gives the door a longer service life than an outswing unit would in this climate.
Directly above the door sits a 36x14 fixed frosted Lexan transom window with a black pine frame, positioned to carry light higher into the interior and to keep the proportions of the front wall balanced. The black frame ties back to the steel siding on the sides and the roof cap above, so the front elevation reads as a single composed face rather than a collection of separate decisions. When both pieces are working together, the effect is a front wall that looks like it came from a designer, not a catalogue.
Custom Shed Builder Serving Aurora and the Surrounding Communities of York Region
Aurora is a town that takes its yards seriously. The homes along Glensteeple Trail and throughout the St. Andrew's area, Bayview Wellington, and the Hunters Glen neighbourhood represent the kind of properties where a generic box shed would look immediately out of place. Homeowners here are looking for a custom shed builder in Aurora Ontario who can deliver something that matches the investment already made in the property — not just a structure that satisfies a storage need.
Backyard Escape Studios builds and installs Advanced Sheds across York Region, including Newmarket to the north, Richmond Hill and Vaughan to the south, and King City and Stouffville to the east and west. If you are in East Gwillimbury, Georgina, or anywhere along the Highway 404 corridor, we service your area with the same crew and the same standard. Every build is fabricated off-site and installed in approximately one day, so your yard is not a construction site for weeks.
