10x6 All-Black Cube Shed in Brampton Ontario

Designed to Disappear: An All-Black Shed for a Landscaped Garden in Brampton
This was one of our first ever all-black builds, and it set the tone for what became one of our most requested finishes. The homeowner in Brampton had spent years developing their backyard into something special. We're talking a natural pond, established perennial beds, ornamental grasses, mature trees, and a tall cedar hedge wrapping the whole property. The last thing they wanted was a shed that stuck out.
Their brief was simple: they needed somewhere to store pond equipment, and it had to look like it belonged. Not next to the garden. In the garden. That meant going dark. Really dark.
The All-Black Finish That Started a Trend
We went with jet black corrugated steel on the side walls and then used a custom matte paint on the pine shiplap front. The matte finish was key here. A gloss or semi-gloss black would have reflected light and drawn attention to the shed, which was the opposite of what we were going for. This particular paint has an almost velvety quality to it. It absorbs light instead of bouncing it back. In the late afternoon, when the sun is low and the shadows from the hedge and trees fall across the yard, the shed practically vanishes.
The black aluminum trim ties the steel and the painted pine together into a single clean volume. We kept the door simple too, a single glass panel door that lets light in but keeps the lines of the shed minimal. No barn door hardware, no contrasting trim, no visible hinges breaking up the surface. Just a quiet, dark box tucked against the hedge.
A Small Footprint That Works Hard
At 10x6, this is one of our more compact builds, but it does exactly what the homeowner needed. There's room for the pond pump, filtration system, hoses, and seasonal pond supplies without anything spilling out into the garden. The flat roof keeps the profile low, which helps it sit below the hedge line from most angles in the yard. If you look at the photos taken from across the pond, you can barely tell the shed is there. That was the whole point.
Custom Sheds for Brampton and the Peel Region
Every backyard is different, and that's why every shed we build is different too. This project in Brampton is a good example of what happens when you work with a builder who actually listens to what you need instead of handing you a catalogue. We didn't just drop a shed in the yard. We thought about sightlines, materials, colour, and how the structure would look from every angle before we built anything.
We work across Brampton and the wider Peel Region, including Mississauga, Caledon, Bolton, and Georgetown. Whether you need a compact equipment shed like this one or a full-sized studio or cabana, we'll build something that actually fits your property and the way you use it.
