12x7 Pool Shed in Kilworth, Ontario

A Poolside Pool Shed That Belongs With the Patio in Kilworth
A homeowner in Kilworth had just finished an inground pool with a stamped concrete deck and clean modern landscaping, and they needed somewhere to put the pump-room essentials, the float toys, and the long list of things a pool generates. A standard utility shed parked at the edge of the deck would have undone the work.
What they wanted was a 12x7 Pool Shed sized to fit the space they had, designed to read as part of the patio rather than a separate object on it. This is where the Essential Shed lands. Compact enough to slot in beside the pool without crowding the deck, finished cleanly enough to belong with the rest of the build. The brief was simple: pool-adjacent storage in Kilworth that does its job and stays out of the way visually.
Black Steel and Charcoal Pine, Reading as One Composed Object
The exterior runs two materials in alternating panels: 7/8 inch corrugated steel in jet black, and 1x6 horizontal tight-knot pine T and G stained Kendall Charcoal. On paper the names sound similar. In practice they read as a sharp tonal split.
The steel reads deep, matte, almost light-absorbing, with the corrugation throwing fine vertical shadow lines that shift through the day. The stained pine reads much lighter than the Kendall Charcoal name suggests, sitting closer to a soft pewter or cool dove gray, especially under direct sun.
The two surfaces are set side by side in deliberate sections rather than blended, which gives the shed a banded, almost architectural rhythm. From across the pool it reads as one composed object. Up close, the corrugated profile and the horizontal shiplap give it texture without colour noise. The roof carries a black SAM membrane with exposed rafters and soffits stained the same Kendall Charcoal, tying the underside back to the pine cladding. Trim and flashing are jet black throughout.
One Door, One Window, and Nothing Else to Get in the Way
The shed has a single 36x80 inswing door with a full frosted glass insert and a black frame, placed centre-front on a pine-clad section so the glass sits inside the soft gray surround. A 30x20 sliding vinyl window with a black frame goes on the left wall, positioned high enough to let light in without compromising shelving inside. That is the entire opening package.
The reason this matters with a pool shed is practical. Every cut into a wall is a place where water finds its way in, where insects collect, where storage gets harder to plan. Keeping it to one door and one window leaves three nearly uninterrupted interior walls for hooks, shelves, and the equipment that lives at a pool deck.
The frosted glass on the door pulls daylight into the shed without making the contents visible from the patio, which is what most homeowners actually want from a pool shed. Function first, with the finish doing the work of making it look like it belongs.
Pool Sheds That Fit the Pace of Life in Kilworth and West of London
Kilworth sits inside Middlesex Centre, a few minutes west of London along the Thames River. It draws homeowners who want acreage and a bit of breathing room without giving up access to the city. New pools have become a common feature of these properties, and the question of where to put pool storage without parking a vinyl utility shed beside a brand-new deck comes up often. A 12x7 Pool Shed sized and finished like this one solves it cleanly.
Backyard Escape Studios builds pool sheds and storage structures across Kilworth and the surrounding communities of Komoka, Delaware, Mount Brydges, Lambeth, and the Byron neighbourhood on the west edge of London. The service area extends out to Strathroy, Lucan, Ilderton, and into St. Thomas and the broader London region. If your property is anywhere along the 401 or 402 corridor west of London, Kilworth is part of the same lane we already serve.
