Building a Pool Shed in King City, Ontario

For homeowners who already have a pool and hot tub in the backyard, the missing piece is often a place close by to store gear, get out of the sun, or simply unwind by the water. This King City, Ontario project pairs a 12x8 Advanced Shed with a full run of glass doors and windows, turning it into a proper pool shed positioned just steps from the water.

Advanced Shed Finishes: Black Steel Siding and Charcoal Pine Panelling

The build combines two finishes for a clean, modern exterior. The back and side sections use corrugated 7/8 inch black steel siding, while the front is 1x6 horizontal tight-knot pine tongue-and-groove panelling stained charcoal. Black flashing, black exposed rafters and soffits, and a black self-adhering rolled roof cap sheet carry the dark palette across the structure, matched to black-framed doors and window trim.

A Pool Shed Designed with Glass Doors and a Sloped Roof

Full-height glass French doors sit at the centre of the pool shed, flanked by fixed transom windows above and casement windows to the sides, keeping the space bright and open toward the pool deck. A sloped roof with wide overhangs runs the length of the structure, adding shade at the entry and reinforcing the modern lines that set this pool shed apart from a standard storage build.
