Anyone with a Pool Knows the Storage Problem in Komoka
Pool gear takes over a backyard fast. Floats, skimmers, chemicals, covers, deck furniture in the off season. The homeowner in Komoka had a tidy concrete pad ready and a clear brief: a long, shallow pool shed that could line up against the property edge, swallow the equipment, and look like it belonged next to the pool deck instead of behind it.
The answer was a 14x6.5 Essential Shed built on the existing pad. The shallow depth keeps the footprint off the usable lounging area, and the 14-foot width gives enough interior length to organize everything along one wall. For a pool shed in Komoka where the yard is already finished and the pool is the centrepiece, that proportion matters more than raw square footage.
A Charcoal and White Pool Shed That Holds Its Own Next to the Water
The exterior pairs two materials that do very different jobs. Three walls wear 7/8 inch corrugated steel in Charcoal, a deep cool grey that reads almost black in shade and softens to a warm graphite in afternoon sun. The corrugation throws a soft vertical shadow line across the panels, which gives the long sides of the shed some movement instead of a flat wall of dark.
The front is a different story. It's clad in 1x6 horizontal premium tight-knot pine tongue and groove, stained in a clean White Satin. Against the Charcoal returns, that white front lifts the whole structure and keeps the shed from feeling heavy beside the pool. The exposed rafters and soffits are stained Charcoal to tie back to the side walls, which gives the eave a crisp dark frame above the white face.
The roof is a single-ply self-adhering membrane on a low five-degree slope, hidden behind the front fascia so the shed reads as a clean modern box from the pool deck.
The Double Sliding Barn Doors Are the Reason This Pool Shed Works
A pool shed lives or dies by how easily you can get a long pool float or a folded patio umbrella in and out. This build uses double sliding barn doors on an exterior galvanized track, with a combined 60 inch opening and three frosted Lexan windows in each door panel.
Sliding doors were the right call here for two reasons. The first is clearance: with the shed sitting on a finished pad close to the pool deck, swing doors would have stolen useful space every time they opened. The sliders stay flush with the wall. The second is light. The six frosted Lexan windows let daylight wash the interior so you can actually find what you're reaching for without flipping a switch, but the frosting keeps the contents private from anyone in the yard.
The black door colour pulls from the Charcoal exterior, and the hardware sits high on a clean galvanized rail that becomes part of the front elevation rather than something you try to hide.
Pool Sheds for Komoka and the Surrounding Middlesex County Communities
Komoka homeowners with finished pools know the value of a structure that handles storage without disrupting the look of the yard. This build was designed for that exact situation: a pool shed in Komoka that respects the existing landscaping, fits against the property line, and reads as a deliberate piece of the backyard rather than an afterthought.
Backyard Escape Studios delivers and installs pool sheds across Komoka and the surrounding Middlesex County communities, including Kilworth, Delaware, Mount Brydges, and Ilderton. From here the service area extends through London and its neighbourhoods of Byron, Lambeth, Westmount, and Oakridge, west toward Strathroy and Glencoe, and out through Thamesford and Ingersoll. Pool shed installations also run regularly into Sarnia, St. Thomas, and the broader southwestern Ontario region.
For homeowners in Komoka planning a backyard build that needs to serve the pool without overwhelming it, this 14x6.5 Pool Shed is a working example of how to get it right.
