The roof is a low skillion at roughly five degrees, finished in a single-ply membrane with a black cap sheet that disappears from ground view. Twelve-inch overhangs on the front and sides keep rain off the cedar and the doors. The whole composition reads quiet and modern, sized for a London backyard that is about to spend a lot of time in use.

Two Separate Doors for a Change Room and Storage in One Pool Shed

The standout decision on this London project was splitting the interior with a framed dividing wall. Inside, 2x4 studs at 24" centres carry a sheet of OSB on the storage side, giving the homeowner a wall to hang hooks, shelving, or pegboard against. The change room side stays clean and finished, ready for towels and a bench.

Each side of the wall gets its own 36x80 white inswing door with a full frosted glass insert. Frosted glass matters here. It lets daylight into both rooms without giving anyone outside a view in, which is exactly what a change room needs in a fenced backyard where neighbours sit close.

Small frosted casement windows on the end walls add cross-light into each side, so neither half goes dark when the doors close. Inswing hinges keep the doors protected from wind catching them mid-swing, which is the call BES makes on every door that lives next to open water.
