A Pool Shed That Earns Its Place on the Deck in London, Ontario
Anyone who owns a pool in London knows the storage problem. Filters, hoses, the ladder when it isn't in use, chemicals, covers, off-season equipment. It all has to go somewhere, and most homeowners end up with it spilling across the deck or shoved into a garage that was never meant to hold it. The owners of this 8x6.5 Pool Shed in London wanted a single tidy structure built to handle pool equipment year-round, sitting right where it's needed.
The site dictated the footprint. The shed slots into a tight pool deck zone with the ladder leaning against the rear wall and the sand filter tucked alongside. A Cube Shed was the right call: flat roof, no overhangs, clean vertical walls that don't waste an inch of yard. London homeowners with backyard pools work inside real constraints, and this build is a study in respecting them.
Ebony Steel Meets Arctic Grey: A Two-Tone Cube Built for Pool Living
Three walls wear 7/8" corrugated steel in Ebony. In direct London sun it reads matte black with a slight graphite cast through the deep flutes, and on overcast pool days it shifts to a softer charcoal. The ribbed profile catches light along its ridges and shadow in its valleys, which keeps the dark face from looking flat or heavy against the wood fence and pool equipment behind it.
The front wall breaks the dark wrap with West Ridge luxury cladding in Arctic Grey. At 8 inches wide with a flat profile, the panels lay out like shiplap rather than siding, picking up enough cool blue from the sky on bright days to feel almost silver, then settling into a true mid-grey when the weather turns. Against the Ebony steel sides, the contrast is sharp without being loud, and the grey ties into the patio stones and the cooler tones of the surrounding hardscape.
The 36x80 outswing door anchors the front in matte black with a full frosted glass insert. The frosted panel gives the door visual weight without putting every coiled hose and chemical jug inside on display. A stainless lever lock adds a single bright point against the dark and grey.
The One Vinyl Product We'll Actually Build With
We've always refused to put commodity vinyl siding on our sheds. It cheapens the finished look, it dents, it sags, and it never really reads as anything other than vinyl. The West Ridge luxury panel is the exception we make. At 8 inches wide with a flat, modern profile, it lays out like shiplap. It's thick, foam-backed, and engineered to hold its lines without the wave and ripple that give lower-grade vinyl away.
For this London Pool Shed, the practical case won the design conversation. The owners wanted a clean contemporary front that wouldn't demand a paintbrush every few years. Wood would have meant staining. Painted steel would have meant eventual touch-ups. Arctic Grey West Ridge means none of that: no staining, no painting, no annual upkeep, just rinse it down when the pool deck gets a wash.
It's the right product for pool yards in particular, where chemical splash, sunscreen, and constant moisture punish any finish that needs maintaining. We added West Ridge to the line for customers who want the contemporary shiplap look at a sensible price point, without ever picking up a brush. This London build is exactly that customer.
Custom Pool Sheds for London, Ontario and the Surrounding Region
This Pool Shed was installed in southwest London, in the Lambeth and Talbot Village area where new pool builds have become common across the recently developed subdivisions along Wonderland Road South and Colonel Talbot Road. London homeowners in Westmount, Byron, Oakridge, Hyde Park, and Riverbend face the same equation: a backyard pool and not enough room for everything that comes with it. A compact Cube Shed solves it.
We design and install custom Pool Sheds across London proper, including Old South, Wortley Village, Masonville, Stoneybrook, Sunningdale, and White Oaks. The build travels well to other parts of southwestern Ontario, including St. Thomas, Strathroy, Ingersoll, Woodstock, and Tillsonburg, along with Middlesex County, Elgin County, and Oxford County more broadly.
If you're somewhere between London and the Lake Erie shoreline, or anywhere along the 401 and 402 corridors, a custom Pool Shed from Backyard Escape Studios is within range. Every build is sized to the deck, finished to suit the home, and installed in a single day.
