10x8 Pool Shed in Mississauga, Ontario

A Pool Patio in Mississauga That Needed More Than a Plastic Bin
Anyone who has put real money into a pool and patio knows the storage problem. Towels, chemicals, skimmer baskets, and seasonal gear end up in the garage or crammed into whatever box shed was cheap and available. This Mississauga homeowner wanted something different: a modern pool shed that actually belonged on the patio, not one that looked like it was waiting to be moved.
The build is a 10x8 Cube Shed from Backyard Escape Studios, positioned at the edge of the pool deck where it sits in full view of the yard. The Cube's flat roof profile and squared front elevation make it one of our most poolside-appropriate models. It reads clean and intentional from every angle, which matters when the structure is going to live alongside a pergola and hardscaping that the homeowners clearly spent time and money on.
Black Steel and Cedar: What a Modern Pool Shed Actually Looks Like
The exterior pairs 7/8" corrugated steel in black with 1x6 horizontal Eastern White cedar boards stained in Muskoka Brown. The steel wraps the left wall, the full back wall, and the right side, while the cedar takes up the majority of the front face and carries onto a portion of the right side. The layout gives the front elevation warmth and texture while the flanking steel keeps the overall impression grounded and modern.
The corrugated black steel shifts under different light. On a bright Mississauga summer afternoon it picks up a cool blue-grey undertone. On overcast days it reads closer to a flat matte charcoal. It has weight and presence without demanding attention. The Muskoka Brown cedar sits at the warm end of the spectrum: a rich amber tone, somewhere between honey and teak, that deepens toward evening and reads as a natural counterpoint to the steel without softening the overall look.
Together these two materials are why modern pool sheds done well look the way they do. Neither one alone would carry the facade. The contrast between dark industrial and warm natural is what makes the exterior feel resolved rather than picked from a parts list.
A Frosted Glass Door Built for a Pool Setting
The 36x80 inswing door is a steel slab unit with a 3/4 frosted glass panel, painted black to tie back to the corrugated steel siding. On a modern pool shed, door choice matters more than it does on a general storage structure. Full glass shows everything inside from the patio, which works against the clean exterior you've spent money on. A solid door makes the interior dark and harder to navigate. Frosted glass is the right answer: it diffuses the view, keeps the interior functional, and maintains the same architectural quality from the outside.
The door sits front right, which keeps it accessible from the pool deck without requiring a walk-around. The black frame gives it a finished, intentional look that completes the facade. The EPDM flat roof with a rear drain keeps water away from both the cedar cladding and the door threshold, which extends the life of both finishes through Ontario freeze-thaw cycles and heavy spring runoff.
Modern Pool Sheds for Mississauga Backyards: Built for Established Yards
Mississauga homeowners working with an existing pool and patio have a specific challenge. The yard is already set. New structures have to earn their place in the space rather than rearrange it. This build on Crestdale Road is the kind of project we're called in for regularly across Mississauga, from Lorne Park and Clarkson in the south to Erin Mills, Meadowvale, and Streetsville further west. The ask is almost always the same: a custom pool shed that matches the quality of what's already in the yard.
Backyard Escape Studios builds modern pool sheds and custom backyard structures throughout Peel Region and across the Greater Toronto Area. If you're in Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Etobicoke, or anywhere in between, and you're looking for a custom pool shed builder who takes the whole yard into account, we'd like to hear about your project.
