8x8 Cube Black Shed in Oakville, Ontario

A Pool Shed That Doesn't Look Like an Afterthought in Oakville
Anyone who owns a pool knows the problem. You need storage, but nothing you can buy off a lot actually belongs in the yard you've worked to build. The towel hooks are somewhere else, the chemicals are shoved in a corner, and the whole situation looks improvised. That's what brought this Oakville homeowner to Backyard Escape Studios: not just the need for storage, but the need for storage that held its own visually against a property that clearly had standards.
The answer was an 8x8 Cube Shed, installed at the back of the yard along the pool line, where it would be seen from the house and from the water every single day. The goal from the start was a structure that looked like it was designed for that spot, not dropped into it.
Jet Black Steel and Stained Pine: How This Combination Reads in Real Life
The right, left, and back walls are clad in 7/8" corrugated steel siding in Jet Black. In full sun, that corrugation does something interesting: the ridges cast fine horizontal shadows across the surface, giving the wall texture and depth instead of reading as a flat painted panel. In overcast light, which Oakville sees plenty of through the shoulder seasons, the steel goes almost graphite, sitting quietly in the yard without demanding attention.
The front wall is a different conversation. Horizontal 1x6 premium tight-knot pine tongue-and-groove panelling runs the full face, stained in Black Beauty. The stain pulls the pine toward the steel in colour, but the grain still shows through, which means the front wall has warmth where the steel has sharpness. Side by side, the two materials don't compete: the corrugation is industrial and precise, the pine is organic and detailed, and together they make the shed look like a considered design decision rather than a single material applied everywhere.
A Full Frosted Glass Door: Light Without Exposure
The door on this build is a 36x80 full-glass frosted insert, inswing, in a black frame with standard silver hardware. The frosted glass is the detail that changes how the shed works day-to-day. It lets natural light into the interior without making the inside visible from the yard, which matters when the shed is sitting poolside and the space behind the door isn't always tidy. You get a functional, usable interior with real light, and the exterior still reads as clean and intentional from every angle.
The silver hardware against the black frame is a small contrast that stops the door from being monolithic. It's a minor detail on paper, but it's what draws the eye on the finished build and gives the front face its focal point.
Custom Shed Builders Serving Oakville and the Surrounding Halton Region
Oakville homeowners tend to know what they want: clean lines, quality materials, and a process that doesn't create more problems than it solves. The lot sizes and landscaping standards in Oakville, from Bronte to Glen Abbey to Joshua Creek, reward a shed that's been designed rather than just built.
