14x7 Pool Shed in Sarnia, Ontario

A Pool Shed Built for the Deck, Not Squeezed Onto It in Sarnia
Anyone who installs a pool learns the storage problem fast. Pumps, robots, floats, nets, chemicals, towels: all the gear that keeps a pool running has to live somewhere, and a garage across the yard is a wet, dripping inconvenience every time you reach for it. The owners of this Sarnia property wanted that gear within steps of the water, but they didn't want a shed that fought the pool for attention.
The answer was a 14x7 Essential Shed sized to run along the back edge of the concrete pool deck. The long, shallow footprint hugs the cedar fence line in this Sarnia backyard, leaving the deck surround clear for lounging. The pool shed sits exactly where it needs to be, and not an inch deeper.
Black Steel and Muskoka Brown Pine, Reading Like a Fence Extension
The three wrapped walls are clad in 7/8" corrugated steel in matte black. Up close the corrugation throws fine vertical shadow lines down the side wall. From across the pool it reads as a clean, dark slab that quiets the structure and lets the cedar fence carry the warmth of the yard.
The front wall is where the build earns its presence. 1x6 horizontal premium tight-knot pine T+G stained in Muskoka Brown sits between the two black steel returns, the planks running long and uninterrupted across the 14-foot face. In afternoon light the stain pulls a deep walnut tone. Closer to dusk it warms into a copper-brown that lines up almost exactly with the cedar fence to the left.
Black Beauty trim runs along the roof edge and frames the doors, tying the steel sides to the door hardware. The roof itself is a single-ply self-adhering IKO-Fast rolled asphalt membrane in black, pitched at a low five-degree slope that reads more as a flat modern roof than a traditional shed peak.
Double Frosted Barn Doors That Open the Whole Front Wall
The standout move on this Sarnia pool shed is the door upgrade. Instead of a single 36-inch entry, the build uses a 58.5-inch opening fitted with double sliding barn doors, each leaf carrying three frosted Lexan windows on galvanized track hardware.
Why it matters: a pool shed lives or dies by how easy it is to get gear in and out. Pool reels, large vacuums, folded-up loungers, and shock buckets do not fit through a residential door without a fight. With both leaves slid open, the entire front of the shed becomes a wide-open portal. The frosted Lexan also lets daylight reach the interior, so the homeowner is not reaching into a black hole when they grab the skimmer at 7 a.m.
The galvanized track hardware was specified to handle Sarnia's lake-effect humidity and the salt air that drifts off Lake Huron, where standard powder-coated track can pit and rust within a few seasons.
Built for Sarnia Pool Owners and the Lake Huron Communities
This 14x7 pool shed solves a specific problem for a specific kind of Sarnia homeowner: someone with a deck-level inground pool who has run out of patience hauling gear back and forth from the garage. If that's the situation in your backyard, whether you're in central Sarnia, out toward Bright's Grove and the Lake Huron shoreline, or down in the older streets near Mitton Village, this is the build worth talking about.
Backyard Escape Studios serves the full Sarnia area and the surrounding Lambton County communities of Point Edward, Corunna, Camlachie, Petrolia, Wyoming, and Forest. We regularly deliver and install across southwestern Ontario, including projects in Chatham-Kent, London, Strathroy, and out toward Windsor and the Lake Erie shoreline. If your backyard sits anywhere from the St. Clair River to the Thames Valley, a custom pool shed install is a short drive for our team.
Each Essential Shed is built in our shop in Port Stanley, delivered to the install site on a single trailer, and assembled on a level concrete or compacted base in roughly one day. For Sarnia clients planning around pool opening season, that one-day install is usually the deciding factor.
