10x8 Pool Shed in Strathroy, Ontario

A Pool Is Going In: The Shed Has to Keep Up
When a homeowner in Strathroy is putting in a new inground pool and laying down fresh stone pavers, the last thing they want beside it is a shed that looks like it was bought at a box store. This client had a backyard transformation underway and needed a pool shed that could hold its own next to everything else going in. The answer was a 10x8 Advanced Shed from Backyard Escape Studios: built to last, designed to look like it belongs.
The pool was still being finished on install day. That is the kind of coordination that comes with building in active backyards across Ontario, and it is something the team handles without issue. The shed went up on the stone pad, the pool crew kept working, and the finished result is a backyard where every element earns its place.
Cedar and Black: A Combination That Works Hard in Strathroy Backyards
All four walls of this Advanced Shed are clad in 1x6 horizontal premium tight-knot pine tongue-and-groove panelling, stained Muskoka Brown. That colour sits in a warm middle ground between raw cedar and a deep honey tone. In flat overcast light it reads grounded and natural. When the sun hits it in the afternoon, it brightens into something closer to a rich toffee, with the wood grain reading clearly through the stain.
The steel trim pieces, exposed rafters, and sliding door hardware are all finished in Black Beauty, a near-matte black that gives the structure its edge. The contrast between the warm cedar boards and the black framing is what makes this shed read as a deliberate design choice rather than an afterthought. The roofline extends with a generous 20-inch overhang across the front and sides, reinforcing the horizontal lines of the shed and providing practical shelter at the entrance.
The SAM self-adhering membrane roof in black cap sheet rounds out the palette without competing with anything below it.
The Sliding Barn Door: Why It Makes Sense Next to a Pool
The door on this shed is a 42-inch sliding barn door finished in Black Beauty with three frosted Lexan glass panels running its full height. The choice of a sliding door is not purely aesthetic. Beside a pool deck where space is at a premium and wet feet are the norm, a door that swings outward creates a hazard and takes up room that a pool area cannot afford to give.
A sliding door solves that problem completely. It also brings in diffused light through the frosted glass panels, so the interior is usable during the day without needing the door fully open. The galvanized hardware track mounted above the door is left exposed, which is in keeping with the industrial honesty of the Advanced Shed's design language. Nothing is hidden that does not need to be.
Custom Shed Builder Serving Strathroy and Middlesex County, Ontario
Strathroy is a growing community in Middlesex County, and the newer subdivisions going in around the east and north ends of town are exactly where this kind of build comes up most often: homeowners who are investing in their properties, adding pools, putting in paving stone, and wanting the structures in their yard to match the level of finish they are putting into everything else. A custom-built Advanced Shed from Backyard Escape Studios is a natural fit for those projects.
Backyard Escape Studios builds and installs across the region, serving Strathroy, Mount Brydges, Komoka, Glencoe, Parkhill, and into nearby communities like London, Dorchester, and Lambeth.
