10x10 Essential Shed with Porthole Window in Toronto Ontario

A Shed That Belongs Next to a Hot Tub in Toronto
When your backyard already has a pergola, a hot tub, a composite deck, and wicker lounge furniture, you don't just throw a shed in the corner and hope for the best. This homeowner in the Leaside area of Toronto had built out a serious outdoor living space, and they needed storage that felt like part of it. Towels, spa chemicals, cushion storage, seasonal covers, cleaning supplies. All the stuff that comes with maintaining a hot tub setup but that you don't want sitting out in the open.
So we built a 10x10 Essential Shed and wrapped it entirely in Muskoka Brown pine shiplap. No steel panels on this one. Every side is wood. It sits right beside the pergola and the hot tub deck, and it looks like it was part of the original backyard design. That was the goal, and that's what we delivered.
Full Shiplap Wrap in Muskoka Brown
Most of our sheds combine wood on the front with corrugated steel on the sides. It's a great look and it keeps costs down. But sometimes a customer wants something softer, especially when the shed is going to be right next to where they spend their evenings. This build has pine shiplap on all four walls, stained in Muskoka Brown. It's a warm, medium-dark tone that picks up the colour of the weathered pergola posts and the cedar hedging around the property.
The charcoal aluminum trim on the corners, door frame, and fascia gives it just enough contrast to keep the lines sharp without competing with the wood. It reads as modern but warm, which is a hard balance to hit with an all-wood exterior. The stain does a lot of the work there.
The Porthole Window and the Details That Matter
Two things set this shed apart from a standard build. First, the porthole window. It's a round, nautical-style window set into the shiplap beside the door. Purely a design choice. It doesn't open, but it catches light in a way that a rectangular window wouldn't, and it gives the shed a character that you notice. It's the kind of detail that makes someone walking into the backyard say "that's cool" instead of just walking past it.
Second, the large horizontal frosted window on the front wall. Frosted glass lets light into the shed so you're not fumbling around in the dark looking for the chlorine tablets, but it keeps everything inside out of view. The black frame around both the window and the frosted glass inswing door ties back to the charcoal trim and keeps the front face looking clean and intentional.
Backyard Storage Sheds for Toronto's Best Outdoor Spaces
If you've already invested in your backyard, the shed should match the investment. We see this a lot in Toronto neighbourhoods like Leaside, Davisville, Moore Park, Lawrence Park, and the Bridle Path, where homeowners have spent real money on landscaping, decks, and outdoor entertaining areas. The shed is often the last piece of the puzzle, and it either pulls the whole space together or sticks out like it doesn't belong.
We build across all of Toronto and the GTA. If you've got a hot tub area, a pool deck, or an outdoor kitchen and you need storage that actually looks right next to it, talk to us. We'll match the materials, the colours, and the finishes to what's already there. That's the difference between a shed and a Backyard Escape.
