12x10 Pool Cabana in Woodbridge, Ontario

The Pool Is Going In, and the Yard Needs to Catch Up
Anyone who has watched a pool installation unfold knows the sequence. The excavators leave, the concrete cures, the water goes in, and then you stand at the back door and realize the yard still looks like a construction site. The pool is done. Everything around it is not.
That was the situation in Woodbridge when this project came together. The homeowner needed a structure that could anchor the pool area, handle the practical side of outdoor entertaining, and look intentional from the moment guests walked into the backyard. A standard pool shed was not going to cut it. What they needed was a proper pool cabana, one built to the same standard as the pool itself.
The result is a 12x10 Advanced Shed from Backyard Escape Studios, designed and installed in Woodbridge with a roll-up bar window, two full-glass inswing doors, and a utility door on the side. It handles storage, serves drinks, and looks like it was always supposed to be there.
Ebony Steel and Warm Pine: A Combination That Earns Its Place Beside a Pool
The three walls that face the fence line and the sides of the yard are clad in 7/8" corrugated steel in Ebony. In full sun, Ebony reads as a deep, slightly warm black, almost graphite, with the corrugated profile casting fine horizontal shadows across the face. In overcast light it pulls darker and more uniform, closer to a true black. Next to a concrete pool deck and a waterline, it holds its own without competing.
The front wall takes a different approach entirely. Horizontal 1x6 tight-knot pine T+G panelling runs the full width of the face, stained in a warm honey cedar tone that sits between the Ebony steel on either side. Pine takes stain differently than smooth wood: the grain absorbs unevenly, which gives the finished surface depth and texture rather than a flat painted look. In afternoon light, the warmth of the pine pulls out further, and the two-tone combination of dark steel and stained wood reads as deliberate and composed, not incidental.
The exposed rafters and soffits continue the dark palette overhead, giving the roofline a clean overhanging shadow line that ties the whole structure together.
One Shed, Three Functions, and a Bar Window That Does the Work
The layout of this pool cabana in Woodbridge was built around how the space would actually get used. Two 36x80 full-glass frosted inswing doors occupy the front face, positioned side by side so the interior opens wide toward the pool deck. Frosted glass keeps the interior private when the doors are closed but lets light through, so the structure never feels like a closed box. Black hardware and black door frames tie directly back to the Ebony steel on the side walls.
The standout detail is the roll-up bar window on the right wall. It is an 82-inch-wide opening with a hand-crank aluminum roll shutter in black and a pine bar ledge below it. When that shutter rolls up, the side wall becomes a pass-through bar counter facing the pool area. Drinks go out, empties come back, and nobody has to leave the deck to make it happen.
The utility door on the right side gives a second entry point for storage access without routing through the main entertaining space. Three functions, bar service, covered retreat, and pool storage, handled by one structure without any of them getting in the way of the others.
Pool Cabana Builders Serving Woodbridge, Vaughan, and York Region
Woodbridge sits inside the City of Vaughan, and it is one of the more active markets in York Region for backyard builds. Homeowners here tend to invest seriously in their outdoor spaces, and pools are common. What often comes after the pool is the realization that the yard needs more: a place to store equipment, a covered spot to gather, something that makes the whole setup feel finished rather than functional.
Backyard Escape Studios installs custom pool cabanas and sheds across Woodbridge and the surrounding area. We work regularly in Vaughan, Maple, Kleinburg, Concord, and Thornhill. For homeowners further out, we also serve Richmond Hill, King City, Nobleton, and Schomberg to the north, and connect south through to North York and the broader Toronto area. If you are looking for a custom shed builder near Woodbridge or a pool cabana company serving Vaughan and York Region, Backyard Escape Studios delivers and installs across the full territory.
